My IR days go back to 35mm film in the early 1980s. Late '80s, I was playing with 120-format IR film (Konica's 750IR), and pushing it further than I had believed it could go...through a Wratten #87 filter, it just took a little longer to expose at an EI of 0.6!!!
I'm VERY impressed with your camera work - the eye for framing and sense of light you have developed an awareness for. I also appreciate you have figured out that "light" is worth the study regardless if it comes in a winter landscape, a dawn moonset, or a big city street scene. Three cheers!!!
Best Wishes from northern California...
I started digital IR some good 5 years ago. still haven't come to film.. I love the mood, but just don't have the patience and funds for it :/
have you ever tried ir with your pentax? the few thumbs I opened in your gallery were shot with sony.. I think k10d works even better (though not faster) than the cybershot - check out Xentap's awesome work [link] if you haven't already
I need to do a bit of b&w conversion in Photoshop, but I should have some strong images to show for my test effort. It's nice to have that finicky old friend IR working back into my present experience base.
In my gallery, six of the 15 images are older film images, the remainder is all Sony F707. Of those six, most are Kodak's HIE "high speed IR" with at least one of the others a 120 6x6cm frame of Konica's 750IR.
I'll check out xentap's camera work.
Best Wishes...
Well done!
