This was a test shot to frame for the starting aurora display (it was too dark to see the canoes in the viewfinder so I had to take a picture and recompose) but since I (barely) got the Iridium flare in the frame, it's a keeper :)
Those flares are made by the silver antenna surface of the Iridium system satellites, reflecting the sun.

Judging from Iridium flare and nothern lights, it's extremely rare and realy unique shot. Congradulations!
I guess you can easily publish it in an amateur astronomical magazine...

Amazing. Such a great shot. I love the lake and canoes, it would be a great picture even without the aurora, but that just adds to the greatness. Wonderful work.
